Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra 1

The transmission on this car shredded itself to bits in a day at 86k miles. It made a very mild grinding noise going into work in the morning on an expressway and driving home the same night it sounded like the engine was about to jump out of the car. Revving engine with no power only for it to launch like a rocket with no warning, terrible clunking, stalling, the works, especially at a stop-start. I've researched online and found that this is a very common problem and that Nissan is fully aware that they break around 80k miles and choose to do nothing about it.

My husband was driving our Nissan Sentra 2014 on the highway to go to the airport when suddenly our car was going down the speed to 45 mph. It was dangerous because other cars were going to 65 mph and more. When we arrived in front of the parking lot. The car didn't go anymore. We were stuck on the middle lane and my husband had to push the car with the help of another person to the parking lot. The car smell like some fluids where burning. This was very dangerous situation. I took it to the dealership before about 3 times because I heard a bad noise, but they told me nothing was wrong that the noise was normal. After this incident I took it to the dealership again and said that the transmission is bad, right now is at the dealership getting approval from the corporation to fix it. The corporation and the dealership knew that cvt transmission are defective and they are putting us in danger.

Driving on my daily commute to work a a few times a day at random times my Sentra suddenly loses acceleration on a 4 lane expressway at speeds of 60mph+, it makes a loud revving noise, and decelerates at an alarming rate with no brake lights, and is an accident waiting to happen, I've been through this twice before and it's the beginning stages of powertrain slowly going, this will be my 3rd transmission and only gets more dangerous and worse from here and yet Nissan doesn't want to admit that it's slipping and bucking and would rather wait until something bad happens to fix the problem if at all. 2013 Nissan Sentra with only 111k. . . This will be my 3rd transmission.

Driving car when stopped I heard some noise. After continuing the car became very sluggish and did not want to take off on street in front of cars. The car ran very so idling up and down dot to a automotive shop and worker told me it was the transmission. I was driving on a long rural route road. But notice weeks before when I turning it was loosing power but would pick up speed as it should.

Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Nissan Sentra 17

I crunk car up after being parked for about 2 hours. The car crunk with a load whining noise from under the hood. It drove for about 5 feet and suddenly would not move. The car was powered on but it would not accelerate. The car had to be towed to the dealer. I was advised that the transmission had 'went out' at 68,970. Per my previous complaint id # 11030604, the transmission was replaced on 10/13/17 at 39,851 miles. After receiving service records, I confirmed that the transmission had been replaced at 14,826 miles (date of replacement unavailable). The 2014 Nissan Sentra's cvt transmission is defective. This presents a safety hazard. The vehicle has experienced non driver initiated hesitation, acceleration, slowing down to almost a stop, and stopping while driving. My particulair vehicle's transmission had been replaced at least 3 times at 68,970 miles. The vehicle has been to the repair shop at least 4 times for this same issue (including one time at 39,824 when the cvt control valve assemply was replaced).

Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Nissan Sentra 18

As I was driving on the highway I felt my car punch, like when it switched gears it kept making a bang noise like if it was punching. As I continued driving the check engine light turned on and I went to a pep boys and a autozone so they could read the code and they both came up with p2859. I called the dealership and told them I would be bringing it in the following day because it was late already. The next day I brought it in to the Nissan dealership and after several hours they called me and told me I would need a new transmission, I asked if they were sure and if a transmission flush would do anything or if there is an extended warranty on it because I only had the car for close to two years. Now I just don't know what to do cause I'm still making payments on the car and the repair bill is alil over $4000.

My transmission will no longer operate safely. It jerks, makes noise, and it still has generally low mileage. The car developed the sound first, so I took it into my local Nissan dealer to have the transmission fluid serviced. They informed me at that time that the noise was in fact the transmission and that it was going bad.

Transmission is making a whirring noise on acceleration from a green light and is jerking sometimes upon acceleration. Then getting on the interstate it hesitates before it hits 60 mph I bought this car with 45,000 miles and payment. I made a mistake because form other complaints the cvt is has a ton of issues and needs to be recalled.

Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra 23

Vehicle has 68,000 miles. Recently noticed the car slipping and trying to get in 4th gear. It also makes a whining noise when in drive and park. . When in neutral noise goes away. From what I read and talked with transmission specialist. Cvt transmissions are not mechanically sound and fail prematurely. Even when you service the transmission at 30k and 65k with new cvt fluid. Presently my car is being inspected by aamco. I do not trust Nissan dealerships.

The transmission is acting up. The car gets stuck, makes whining noises, can't go uphill, won't accelerate, slows to a complete stop, etc. There were issues with the car prior to it getting this bad. I took is to a Nissan dealership several times but it wasn't diagnosed for some reason. It took some time for it to almost completely clunk out.

Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra 26

2013 Nissan Sentra w/ 58,700 miles. The car experienced a loud whining noise, which progressively got worse until it started to shudder and rev intermittently until power was lost. The complete loss of power occured while driving approx. 30 mph on a 2-lane road in traffic, causing an unsafe condition. The driver was forced to stop the car in the travel lane with emergency flashers on while other vehicles passed on the wrong side of the road. Upon restarting the engine, the driver was able to get the car to a safe location but the problem remained, intermittent revving under load, shuddering, and eventually complete loss of power again. The car was towed to a dealership, and it is being examined by that dealer now. All symptoms point to failure of the cvt, a common problem with a range of Nissan vehicles that has been ongoing for years. Note, 3 weeks prior to this incident, the same dealer changed the transmission fluid and performed other regular maintenance service. From the consumer perspective, Nissan and this dealer are knowingly allowing unsafe vehicles to leave their lot and not informing owners of these issues.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra. While driving 70 mph, the contact heard an abnormal booming noise and the vehicle failed to accelerate and stalled. In addition, the transmission warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to west palm beach Nissan (3870 w blue heron blvd, riviera beach, FL 33404) where it was diagnosed that the cv joint needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 58,000.

Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra 28

The vehicle was in motion at 65 mph on the expressway in heavy traffic. It steadily began to decelerate, giving no warning, with no lights on the dash or noises. As I attempted to accelerate, the vehicle would not respond to accelerator pedal input, and I had traffic moving at a very high speed and was almost hit by another car attempting to get onto the very slim shoulder at low speed. The car had 74,000 miles on it at the time of the incident, and had excellent care taken of it, including its recommended maintenance. It was purchased brand new in December 2012, and I am the only owner. It was towed to the dealership, where I was told I was out of the 60,000 mile warranty. Initially quoted $4500 just to get the car back in working order, it took Nissan consumer affairs two weeks to arrive at a figure just short of $1100 to get my car running again. A transmission should not fail in a vehicle at all, let alone one that new, especially considering the level of care that it was given. This is a potentially very serious safety issue, as I almost had nowhere safe to pull over. If this had been the multi-lane highway I was on minutes before, I may have not been over to reach the shoulder and could have been hit or involved in a serious accident. Upon doing some research I found this issue has been encountered by a large number of Nissan owners with continuous variable transmissions and the company has done little or nothing about it, and have attempted to minimize the problem. By extending 'financial assistance' down to $1100, in my view, they are admitting guilt as to this problem, as companies do not give money away. I feel cheated, and now do not feel safe driving the vehicle I had paid $21,000 not very long ago.

Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Nissan Sentra 29

When driving the vehicle I noticed a noise while accelerating. When I turned the wheel while accelerating it got louder and struggled to move ive only had the vehicle for three years. I had called the dealer to ask about my warrenty. They had told me that I was over my milage. So then I took it to amco to get it serviced and I find out the transmission had issues spent 2800. One year later I'm having other issues with the transmission. I'm not the only complainting about this there are other vehicles having cvt issues. I cant afford to put more money into this vehicle. Almost done paying it off but having another issue I just want to get rid of this vehicle. Please help!!!.

Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra 30

The car started jerking and then making a loud hissing noise. The car was towed to aaa and they confirmed it needed a new transmission. I contacted Nissan to see if they would help pay for the $3,000 repair after reading the numerous complaints from other owners. After 12 days they declined because it was no longer under warranty and they did not recall the transmission. All things they knew prior to having me get a diagnostic from a Nissan dealership. I believe Nissan is knowingly defrauding consumers and costing them additional money when they know they are not going to assist in paying the repair cost. Also, there are so many complaints about this transmission, yet they refuse to recall the transmission. Someone needs to step in and stop this.

Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra 31

Last Friday the cvt transmission in my 2013 Nissan Sentra stopped working with 30,024 miles on the car. My wife was driving it when it started making a noise, so she pulled over. She said it would not move fwd or rev after that. We purchased the car new and always took it to the dealer for all service.

Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Sentra 32

The cvt began failing around 45,000 miles (about 4 years use). There was a jerking back and forth motion and the tachometer would rev up above 2,000 rpm and then fall back. Plus, there was a horrible, grating-type noise emanating from the car. The dealer at which I bought the car had gone out of business so I took the Sentra to a different Nissan dealer where they replaced the cvt with a different, 'remanufactured' unit. Well, just 2-3 weeks later, that second cvt also began to fail! I thought the car was going to die on a busy highway but, fortunately, managed to make it to my exit. I got to the first traffic light and stopped. When the light turned green, the car would not move when I applied gas. I shut off the car and turned it back on and could then finally get it to slowly move. Needless to say, I returned to the dealer where the rep said it was really 'unheard of' for a transmission to fail twice. But when I called a few days later, he told me that the computer had shown some sort of failure. Now, nearly 2 weeks later, I still don't have my car back. I suspect that transmission #3 also failed and, perhaps, the dealer doesn't know what to do at this time. I do not feel safe in this car and I don't think I will ever trust another cvt from any manufacturer. I want to stress that the dealer has been wonderful! this is my fourth Nissan vehicle (2 maximas, then an altima, now the Sentra) and they were very reliable. I got nearly 180,000 miles on the second maxima and nearly 150,000 miles on the altima. But neither of those 2 vehicles had cvts! thank goodness my powertrain warranty is still in effect!.
